Dictionary data
Readings, meanings, and word classes use JMdict, copyright James William BREEN and the Electronic Dictionary Research and Development Group. This supported subset is adapted from the English jmdict-simplified release dated 2026-10-19.

JLPT study estimates
JLPT study estimates come from Jonathan Waller’s JLPT Resources, mapped to dictionary entries by Stephen Mulraney’s yomitan-jlpt-vocab. N5 through N1 are unofficial estimates; the JLPT does not publish vocabulary specifications. N0 is a small editorial supplement for advanced literary or uncommon vocabulary, not an official exam level.

Our adaptation
The adapted dataset is available under Creative Commons Attribution ShareAlike 4.0. We select supported verbs and adjectives, add する to verbal nouns, and retain one compatible spelling, reading, and meaning per imported entry.
